Post See you space cowboy ...  Reply with quote
I wanted to post to say this publicly. I do genuinely wish all of you the best. Each and every one of you are among some of the best people I have had the good fortune to game with in my life. At this moment though, Valere and what it is is not something I wish to remain a part of.

I've come far with Valere and I've been here since the guild was wiping frequently on Gruul. I've been through many a struggle and seen too many people come and go. I was a recruit, a member, a raider, a class lead and a guild lead and even though I was only some of those things for a short time, I did what I could to be the best I could be for all of you.

When I ran for Guild Lead, I was put through the ringer for not being a part of a select group of friends, I was subjected to attacks against my character and was clearly made a target. I was made to feel as if I was the sole and solitary reason that Valere was going to go downhill. A point that Skargoth made clear just before he left the guild for the second time.

During my short time as the Guild Lead I made it a point to empower people and motivate them to recruit, get people in to do their best and to prove that they're capable, to create a sense of something larger than oneself and rebuild the pride of Valere. During that short time I saw many people come and go, some for selfish reasons, others for well-justified ones, but through all of that I did what I could to empower those around me to be the best they could be. To leave as something better than what they were when they arrived.

That is still the ideal I stand by and I believe in, even though I am not your guild leader. I believe in the personal power of those individuals in Valere. I believe in the power of each and every single one of you and I believe that each and every single one of you are capable of being so much more.

I believe that Valere, as a guild, should reflect its membership, as any guild should. I believe that tomorrow Valere should be allowed to be something better than what it is today. Even if I do not believe in the name Valere anymore, I believe in the membership of this guild.

That being said, upon the resolution of several recently ignited arguements amongst the Officers of the guild, arguements that stemmed from topics that were brought up to be points of discussion and development and turned into personal attacks, insults and degrading and demeaning commentary. Because I believe the membership of Valere deserves the opportunity to be something better than what it is. Because I believe in the individual power of each and every single member of this guild, I have decided to take my leave of Valere.

I invite every one of you to reach out to me. If you see me online and you want to say hello, please, feel free. If you want to PM me or respond to the post, or email me, anything, you are more than welcome to. Simply because I do not wear the tag does not mean I am gone.

In my final post here, I encourage everyone to aim high, to achieve greatness and to make tomorrow better than today. I'll still be around guys and girls. I certainly believe I'll be seeing some of you quicker than I will see others. That's alright though. Still love ya. Wink

See you space cowboy...

I want to tell you all about a recent guild master of mine. I first met this man several weeks ago. And to tell you the truth, I wasn’t too sure what to think of him. He seemed a little too relaxed, a little too sure of himself. I heard a few people speak disfavorably of him. In fact, I was even once told he’d pretty much sell himself out to the highest bidder, go wherever the wind blew him, so I wondered could you trust this person when things got tough. Would he stand side by side with you, or would he let you down when you needed him most?

But the fact of the matter is he proved himself to me right from the beginning. This guild would be a different place right now, and not necessarily for the best, if it weren’t for him. And I think many of you could see to agreeing with that. And when he stepped down, it took me a while to realize it. I think some people were too caught up (and still are) in first impressions to see the truth that was right in front of them. They overlooked his composure because they thought it was complacency. They ignored his opinions because they saw them as intransigence. And they seemed to resent his friendliness because they mistook it for duplicity. So while this man was giving us his best every minute of every day, these people—who don’t really need to be named, because they know who they are—were busy judging him.

And now he’s leaving. I’m proud to say that in spite of all the narrow-mindedness standing to discourage me from it, Cellwynar became my friend. I’m going to miss him being in this guild. No more laughs over amusing circumstances observed during raids. No more staying up past bed time swapping stories in Vent. No more complaints about my temporary lapses in healing him, hehe. Goodbye, Cell. I think I speak for more of us than you might imagine when I say that you’re going to leave an empty space when you go. I hope you find a place to… well… that will let you belong.
